MISSION

Fighting Granulosa Cell Tumor Ovarian Cancer with Information, Advocacy, Community, and Research.

VISION

StopGCT wants every woman affected by GCT to live a long and productive life. We work hard to improve the Standard of Care and advance the global, scientific understanding of this rare form of ovarian cancer.

Granulosa Cell Tumor is a rare form of Ovarian Cancer, and because of its rare status, it receives little in-depth medical focus. Physicians generally lack specific training in rare disease and may see only a handful of cases in their careers. In addition, modern clinical practice tends to limit the time patients have to spend with physicians, making it hard to communicate about specific issues with rare disease. Subsequently, patients with GCT tend to receive a “one-size-fits-all” approach common to mainstream Ovarian Cancer that may worsen their outcomes, especially when there is advanced disease.

StopGCT offers Information, Advocacy, Community and Research to help patients partner more effectively with their physicians and engage in well-informed care. We provide information and advocacy tailored to the specifics of each case to help expand understanding of Granulosa Cell Tumor. We offer community support through our social media channels, and we arm clients with the latest GCT and Ovarian Cancer research. StopGCT champions the advancement of GCT knowledge, care and research around the globe. All services are free, thanks to the generosity of all those who donate to our 501(c)3 non-profit.

Info & Advocacy

StopGCT helps women navigate each step in their complex ovarian cancer journey and become strong self-advocates along the way. We help clients review treatment and diagnostic options, find second opinions and curate relevant scientific literature. We also try to understand every nuance of each case, attend medical appointments and provide technical advocacy communications for physicians, as needed.

Community

StopGCT hosts and participates in Ovarian Cancer groups, webinars and conferences. Our social media pages and facebook group are safe online communities that provide announcements and updates to support everyone affected by Granulosa Cell Tumor. We freely share our GCT-related knowledge and experience in the hope that every woman with GCT can have the best possible outcome.

Research

StopGCT donates money internationally towards research and activities specifically benefitting women with Granulosa Cell Tumor Ovarian Cancer. Over the past 2 decades, we have partnered with physicians and medical institutions to advocate for off-label and translational therapies for women with GCT and have been a driving force behind changes to the treatment and diagnosis of rare disease.

What it’s like to work together

Each GCT case is unique, and we believe strongly in individualized and precision care. In parallel with StopGCT’s focused advocacy for rare disease, our experience from individual cases allows us to present theoretical frameworks for high-level research consideration.

StopGCT performs detailed technical reviews to understand each client’s situation and collaborate to create a custom advocacy plan. Our attention to detail often helps patients flag issues for additional review that have been overlooked by their care team.

StopGCT operates from a Western-medicine mindset and provides clients with access to detailed technical information. We also offer technical advocacy in support of discussions about off-label and translational therapies for rare disease.

The need for Granulosa Cell Tumor help and advocacy doesn’t take a vacation or fall neatly within a 40-hour work week. Neither does StopGCT. We do our best to be available to clients whenever needed.

StopGCT approaches every client as if she were our sister, daughter or mother. We don’t avoid advanced cases and we help patients have direct and technical conversations with physicians, when needed, to advocate for the best possible care.

When facing rare Ovarian Cancer, personal wealth should not determine who has access to the best information and advocacy. StopGCT helps everyone for free and relies on the generosity of donors and any appreciative clients able to support our cause.
